In a flight lasting just 30 minutes, Corse Hélicoptère takes you to Bastia, a city full of art and history, at the gateway to Haute-Corse. Authentic, cultural, gourmet… there is no shortage of words to describe the city. With its subtle blend of tradition and modernity, Bastia invites you to discover the history of Corsica through its pretty cobbled streets, its colourful façades and its typical island atmosphere.
What to do
You will love the old town with its pedestrian walkways, its Genoese citadel and the governors’ palace, which witnessed a turbulent period in Corsican history. Its pleasant shopping streets, with their mixture of traditional crafts and modern shops, simply invite you to stroll round them. The Old Port, with its lively and sociable atmosphere and carefully organised movement of fishermen, is an essential part of any visit to Bastia. Don’t miss the recently-constructed Aldilonda footbridge, with its unique view of the city. The place where producers from all over the region meet once a week is the original market square. Finally, in the heart of the city, take a break at a café on Place Saint Nicolas, facing the sea and shaded by hundred-year-old plane trees.
And there’s more!
Bastia is also the gateway for the road to Cap Corse, with its belvedere villages, including Erbalunga, Sisco, Centuri and Nonza. This is a lovely, remote place with unique and proudly preserved natural landscapes. Corse Hélicoptère invites you to visit Cagnano, a few kilometres from Bastia, for a gastronomic stopover at the Hotel Misincu.
